A Letter from President Ellen Haynes to the AAEM Membership

SUBJECT: The AAEM 2008-2009 Year! Let’s Roll!

Let me first of all thank you that have shown your support for me to serve as your 08-09 President. I am excited about the coming year and the challenges we face, affording us the opportunity to serve and protect others. I extend my sincere and deepest appreciation to the Board that just served the 2007-2008 year. Thank you!

Our Association and our individual EMA programs have risen to new levels of professionalism. The general public and our elected officials are all realizing the important role that we, as emergency managers, perform in their best interest. We must continue to improve our profession by continuing our training, staying involved, and being pro active in all phases of our programs.

We are a family! We have and will continue to be through a lot together. This is your Association, please take it to heart! Please be active and stay involved. I want our Association be a true reflection of the EMA family that we are!

Let’s all recommit ourselves to our Association's purpose.

Your leadership is already starting the task of organization and developing direction for this year’s activities. I have appointed Committee Chairs and Vice-Chairs that will provide active leadership for their committees. Please look over the list of committees and pick one that interest you and get involved. We need the entire AAEM membership to be actively involved in Association business.

To AAEM members who’ve been around for a while!--Please reaffirm your commitment to your association by serving in some way this year. Please take a look at these committees and contact the chair to ask what you can do to serve. If you don’t want to do that, please give of your support by attending the conferences, visiting with vendors and actively participating in the training evaluations.

To the new members and to the young ones!—Please take time to learn more about your Association.  Feel free to contact the Chair of the Committee of your choice and offer to serve!
