AAEM is a non-profit organization of Emergency Management personnel established to:
bulletInstill and stimulate love of our community, state and country.
bulletAdvocate a strong emergency preparedness program adequate for the defense of our country.
bulletfoster fraternal relations between Emergency Management personnel at all levels of government.
bulletProvide a recognizable force through which Emergency Management advocates can express their concerted views on matters of interest and concern.
bulletEstablish an alliance between local EMA offices and other agencies of state and local government which have emergency preparedness responsibilities for the exchange of ideas and concerns.
bulletEstablish an effective liaison with businesses, industries and educational institutions.
bulletPromote professionalism among Emergency Management personnel by establishing performance standards and encouraging continuing education.
bulletPromote necessary legislation to enhance emergency preparedness at both the state and national levels.

Membership Classifications:

bulletDelegate membership is extended to individuals who are actively engaged in the daily administration, direction and/or coordination of an Emergency Management program at the local or state level within the State of Alabama provided such a program is consistent with the provisions of Title 31, Chapter 9, Code of Alabama, 1975. Delegate members shall be entitled to vote, hold all elected or appointed offices in the Council, and serve on all standing and special committees.
bulletAssociate membership is extended to elected officials, emergency service and support personnel at the local and state levels and to any other person who believes and supports the Council's purpose and who is not eligible for membership in any other classification. Associate members shall not be entitled to vote or to hold office but may serve on special committees.
bulletCorporate membership is extended to businesses and industries, political entities and to other groups and organizations who are interested in furthering the Emergency Management program and the purpose of the Council. Corporate members shall not be entitled to vote or hold office in the Council but may serve on special committees.
